Marvin J. Fenzke, Baraboo

Marvin J. Fenzke, age 86, of Baraboo passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center in Baraboo.

He was born February 20, 1928 in Baraboo to Julius and Viva (Platt) Fenzke. Marvin was a dairy farmer all his life.

He is survived by two brothers, Keith Fenske of Chakio, MN, and Gene Fenske of Baraboo; nephews, Russ (Laura) Fenske, Gary (Cheryl) Fenske, Jeff (Patti) Fenske, Jim Fenske; nieces, Sandy (Kendall) Feigl, and Chris (Ed) Achenback.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Donald.

Donna F. Crary, Baraboo

Donna F. Crary, age 77 of Baraboo passed away on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Donna, the daughter of Clarence C. and Leora H. (Schwanz) Steinke was born on Aug. 25, 1936 in Baraboo.  She was a graduate of Baraboo High School. Donna retired from Wal-Mart after working there for many years. 

She is survived by her son, Todd (Amy) Crary; grandchildren, Kyle Crary and Natalie Crary; great-grandchild, Haydin Crary, all of O’Fallon, MO; mother, Leora Steinke of Augusta, GA; boyfriend, Charles Newby of Baraboo and family friend, Nancy Rau of Baraboo.

Donna was preceded in death by her father, Clarence; and her sister, Mary Sue (Arthur) Ruda of New Zealand.

A Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Redlin Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery at 11 a.m.

Robert “Bob” “Bueford” W. Beardsley, Baraboo

Robert “Bob” “Bueford” W. Beardsley, 51, of Baraboo passed away peacefully at his home, Friday, February 14, 2014.

Robert was born in Baraboo on July 8, 1962.

He grew up in Fairfield, outside of Baraboo, and in Wisconsin Dells. He graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School.

He was married to Tami Steele of Lake Delton. They had one son Jacob Beardsley of Baraboo.

He enjoyed collecting John Wayne memorabilia, farming, hunting, and going to steam shows.

Robert is survived by son, Jacob; stepson, Derick Glaudell; his parents, Lester (Donna) Beardsley of Baraboo, Luella (Dale) Hoag of Lyndon Station; sisters, Cindy (Marvin) Yardley of Barron, Nancy (Anthony) Barbee of Minong; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roswell and Shirley Beardsley of Baraboo, and Robert Jerome and Lulu Miller of Wisconsin Dells.

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 6:00 pm at Poor Richard’s Tavern in Baraboo. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Christopher ‘Chris’ R. Gable, Bakersfield, CA / Baraboo

Christopher ‘Chris’ R. Gable, age 38, of Bakersfield, CA, formerly of Baraboo died on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 in Bakersfield due to complications from diabetes. Chris, son of Roger and Charlene (Friske) Gable was born on April 26, 1975 in Monroe. He was a 1993 graduate of Baraboo High School and received his Associates Degree at MATC – Milwaukee in Landscaping and Horticulture. He started his working career at Landscape Techniques in Baraboo. Later, he worked at Tower MRL in Sun Prairie and transferred to Bakersfield where he continued his employment through Tower MRL for the last 6 years. In his free time, Chris enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, wood working and painting.

Survivors include his parents, Roger (Charlene) Gable; siblings, Tina (Joe) Johnson and Mike Gable; he is further survived by, aunts; uncles; many cousins, other relatives and friends.

Chris was preceded in death by both paternal and maternal grandparents as well as two uncles.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. Walnut Hill Bible Church with Pastor Dan Gunderson officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at Redlin Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 434 Yellowstone Dr. Suite 202, Madison, WI 53719. Chris will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Paul D. Ramsey, Baraboo

Paul D. Ramsey, age 59 of Baraboo died on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014. Paul, son of Charles E. and Virginia E. (Dempsey) Ramsey was born on Aug. 3, 1954 in Baraboo. He worked for over 38 years at Flambeau in the receiving department. Paul proudly served in the Army National Guard. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, taking care of his chickens and cats and spending time with his granddaughters.

Survivors include his children, Amanda (Andrew) Meeker, Amber Ramsey and Andrew Ramsey, all of Baraboo; grandchildren, Harley Denman, Shayna Denman, Isabell Meeker and Fallon Sonsalla; the mother of his children, Sue Ramsey of Baraboo; his siblings, Eva Jo (Adolph) Hooker, JoAnne (Walter) Kinzler, Daunnene Hooker, Raleigh (Olive) Ramsey, Theadore (Casandra) Ramsey, Carol (Joseph) Birch, David (Gloria) Ramsey, Kay (Jack) Birch, Pearl (Donald) Schellenberger, Pauline Ramsey, Enain Gardener, Lucy Reichhoff, Penny (Vernon) Carter, Carlyle (Jody) Ramsey, Cyril (Joni) Ramsey; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Zachary Meeker; brother, Herbert Ramsey; sisters, Johanna Fry, and Judy Hudzinski; brothers-in-law, Palmer Tenjum and William Hooker, and a sister-in-law, Eula (Shinn) Ramsey.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Redlin Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Rusch officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Military Rites will be conducted by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard.

Marveline Mae Weinke, Townships of Freedom and Woodland

Marveline Mae (Stanek) Weinke, age 75 of the Townships of Freedom and Woodland, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Our House in Wisconsin Dells.  She was born on September 8, 1938 to Robert and Hermena (Plahetka) Stanek.  On May 11, 1963, she was united in marriage to Wayne Weinke. He preceded her in death in 2008. 

She attended and graduated from Wonewoc High School in 1956. Marveline had been employed as an assembly line worker at Reedsburg and Sauk City canning factories. She also worked at Wisconsin Cheeseman and the Shopper Stopper.  She dearly loved her cats and thoroughly enjoyed fishing, canning, and baking.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy (Chuck) Gibson of Plain; Darlene (Roger) Frommung, Jr. of Rock Springs, and four grandchildren, Wayne and Danny Frommung and Justin and Allison Gibson; two sisters, Mary Warn and Jeanette Benseman, both of Reedsburg; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Wayne, Marveline was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo with Pastor Jesse Stevens officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom.  Friends may call on Monday, from 11 a.m. until the time of services, at the funeral home.

Mary Skipper, Baraboo

Mary J. Skipper, 86, of Baraboo passed away February 3, 2014 at St. Clare Hospital. Mary was born on June 2, 1927 to Anthony and Anna Schaeffer in Chicago, IL. She was united in marriage to Clyde “Skip” Skipper on December 14, 1946 in Chicago.

Mary was a homemaker most of her life, raising seven children. Mary always had a big heart, a kind word, a quick wit and a hearty laugh. She loved socializing with family and friends, playing cards and listening to country and polka music. She was a lifelong Chicago Bears and White Sox fan, growing up just blocks away from Comiskey Park. Mary’s Catholic faith ran deep and she was a devout parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church for decades.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Sally Cunningham of Crystal Lake, IL, Claudia Skipper of Chicago, Bernadette (Gary) Borkenhagen and Kathy (Tim) Luger of Baraboo; sons, Thomas (Coleen) Skipper and Mark Skipper both of Chicago. Mary is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Skip; son, Paul; sister, Eleanor; and brothers, Tony, Art, Eugene and Richie.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at Noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Jay Poster officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9 am until the time of services at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic School or Church. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.

David W. Niles, Baraboo

David W. Niles, 76,  passed away on February 3, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Wisconsin Dells. David, son of John and Helen (Neuzum) Niles was born on November 29, 1937 in Baraboo.

David worked for Badger Ordnance for over 20 years as a pipe fitter. He also served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 until he was honorably discharged in 1960.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bird watching. David loved the outdoors, even just walking through the woods. He loved to read, especially Louis L’amour, and was a fan of John Wayne movies.

David is survived by his former wife, Joyce Reinchhoff; children, Sharon (Philip Lueck) Barton, Michael (Saundra) Niles, Timothy Niles, and James (Brandy) Niles; grandchildren, Heather (Roger), Shawn, Mathew, and Joshua (Lauren); great-grandchildren, Cassie, Jasmeen, Jacob, and Keagan; siblings, Steven (Helen) Niles, Philip (Sue) Niles, Janice (Jerry) Ward, Chris (Kenneth) Wilder, Catherine Dreifke, Barbara Smith, Paula Blake, John “Jack” Niles, Judith Sutton, and Martha Harding; further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gordon Niles; two brothers-in-law, Clyde Sutton and Robert Dreifke; great-grandson, Landon.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Redlin Funeral Home, with Pastor Jonathan Tipton officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Baraboo Veterans Honor Guard, at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
